Full course description:
This is a practical course suitable for the absolute beginner or the more experienced craft student - a wonderful chance to explore this fascinating craft developed in Argentina.
Students will learn to make, colour and assemble into a permanent display stems of the Sweetpea flower its foliage and tendrils.
We will be using the excellent commercially prepared cold porcelain paste; this paste is NOT edible, air-dries and is ideal for making permanent models. The flowers and leaves will be coloured using craft dusts and Windsor and Newton oil paints. The possibility of using food colours will also be discussed.
Although some of the techniques used are similar to those used in sugarcraft modelling there are important differences and these will be discussed and taught.
Asies cold porcelain is extremely versatile and can be used for beautiful display pieces and many gift items - the only limit is time and your imagination!
There will be an additional cover charge of approx £15 for materials and equipment used. There will also be a small amount of equipment available for sale – it would very much depend on how far the student wishes to progress with the craft as to how much he/she would spend. The students are taught to improvise when at all possible. It is not necessary for the student to buy any equipment in order to take this course.
