Full course description:
Oxford and its surroundings have many superb old and new gardens to suit all tastes. Many College gardens are large and historically fascinating, often reflecting the history of gardening as well as the growth of the University.
The course will be based on visits to gardens in Oxford and the surrounding area and supported in the college by consideration of their history, development and significance. We will also visit the Botanic Garden, the oldest and still one of the most beautiful in Britain, and the University Arboretum. Denman’s own garden is extremely attractive and will be explored.
The day visits will be backed up by entertaining evening talks and discussions about the gardens we will be visiting, and related garden history topics.
THIS COURSE IS NOT SUITABLE FOR THOSE WITH LIMITED MOBILITY AS THERE WILL BE A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF WALKING INVOLVED.
If you would like additional information on this course, please contact the college on 01865 391991.
