Poetry is as diverse as life, reflecting the mood and interests of the times. Queen Elizabeth’s reign has encompassed huge change, which is evident in the very different styles of poetry produced in this period. This course will develop your understanding of poetry and offer insights into some of the poets who have reflected the concerns of the age. The tutor will lead group discussions on selected poems from a wide range of poets of this period, provide advice on how to approach poetry and explain some of the techniques used. Reading aloud will add to the enjoyment.
