Dhruv Baker, the 2010 Masterchef Champion was crowned last night in the grand final of Masterchef 2010. The first challenge for the contestants on the road to the championship was to cook for a panel of WI members, trustees and judges at Denman College, the home of the WI Cookery School.
Tim Kinnaird, Dhruv Baker and Alex Rushmer, three of the semi-finalists were put through their paces at the WI college, cooking a variety of WI favourite dishes.
The Women's Institute were approached by the programme makers to help determine who was to be crowed Masterchef 2010, as the organisation is renowned for setting the bar high in the field of cookery.
"We were delighted to be involved in the search for the next Masterchef Champion," comments Chair of Denman College, Anne Harrison, one of the panellists for the semi-final challenge. "Seeing such a talent of new cooks coming through the competition was very exciting and inspiring. Its great to see that there is such a growing passion for good cooking out there. Within the WI, we continue to strive to inspire cooks from all backgrounds, to develop their abilities. This is our aim behind the development of the WI Cookery School. And you don't have to be a WI member to come on a cookery course, we welcome everyone to Denman College."
If you would like the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Dhruv Baker, Masterchef Champion 2010, take a look at the range of cookery courses on offer - who knows, it could be the start to your campaign to be crowned Masterchef Champion 2011.
