In this one-hour lecture, Simon will explore how post-war remembrance rituals in the 1920s were in some ways foreshadowed during the conflict itself, both at home and on the battlefields. Looking at the memoirs of chaplains, as well as other contemporary reports, he will explore wartime commemorative ritual, the ceremonial unveiling of the Cenotaph and the burial of the Unknown Warrior one hundred years ago, in November 1920.

This talk is a repeat of Simon's lecture from Autumn 2020, for those who missed it, or who just fancy coming along again!
