City of love. City of lights. Thoughts of long meandering walks along the Seine or around the historic centre.
But Paris is not ‘just’ the romantic city we all know: it is also a place that had to reinvent itself more than once to accommodate changing demands and citizens’ requirements: razing whole quarters was not unheard of, broader streets became necessary and new ways of living had to be made possible. Some such places have already made it into our understanding of what is ‘historic’ Paris, others are so new they yet have to make their mark on the map, but all of them are worth a visit.
This talk is a repeat of Tilo's lecture from Spring 2021, for those who missed it, or who just fancy coming along again!
