WI Member: From £360.00

Non Member: From £400.00

Tutor: Sally Boehme

Plunge yourself into the wonderful world of bead weaving.  Using needle and thread combined with a beautiful selection of beads, learn how to create light, comfortable pieces of jewellery with a luscious, lacy effect.   This course is suitable for beginners and those wishing to add further techniques to their repertoire.

Three or more pieces of work will be created by you to take or wear home.  The emphasis is on necklaces, bracelets and bangles, however, you may have ideas about a decorative element on your own project which can be explored.  Lacy weaves such as ogalala lace and beaded netting (both tubular and flat), will be employed plus variations providing completely different designs.  Lots of bead shapes and sizes will be used but can be subsituted for larger and smaller beads to increase or decrease the overall scale of your pieces.   This course is suitable for beginners and improvers.

Sally Boehme has been making beaded jewellery for over 20 years and teaching for 10 years. She also uses polymer clay, handmade felt, fabric and wire in her work.

All materials can be purchased/borrowed from the tutor.  However, students may like to bring some or all of the following:

Equipment: Beading mat, size 10 beading needle, beading thread in chosen colour/s, small sharp scissors, wax to condition thread.

Materials: Size 11/0 Japanese seed beads, a bead mix of size 8/0 to size 15/0, 16mm dagger beads or similar, 4mm and 6mm Czech round facetted beads, optional: 4mm Swarovski/Czech crystal bicones.

The approx cost of materials is £10-15.
