The Isle of Avalon habitat with its distinctive Tor surrounded by marshland undoubtedly had pagan Celtic religious associations and legends of ‘King’ Arthur, but was also an early Christian site with legendary associations with Joseph of Arimathea and St Bridget and developed into a very wealthy monastic community.
