Having lived in Ghent for nearly 25 years, I have often felt that the city is greatly overshadowed by nearby Bruges. I could never quite figure out why, though. Of course, Bruges is a cute place to visit, don’t get me wrong, but it’s a classic one-day-town to visit.

Ghent, on the other hand, has enough to offer to warrant a rather more extended stay: a good number of interesting museums, a long history dating back to Roman times, lots of opportunities to see a play, concert or opera at a multitude of locations and – last but not least – lots and lots of diverse imposing buildings and neighbourhoods to explore. Let me show you MY Ghent, then.
