The city of dreaming spires has cast its spell over countless poets, playwrights, writers and novelists over the years - from Thomas Hardy, Oscar Wilde and Graham Greene to crime writers Dorothy Sayers and Colin Dexter. It's also inspired some of the greatest flights of fantasy in children's literature: Alice in Wonderland, C.S. Lewis' Narnia stories, Tolkein's Lord of the Rings and Philip Pullman's Northern Lights - to name but a few. On this walk, we'll follow in the footsteps of some of Oxford's best known writers, uncovering the magical places that inspired them and exploring some of the fantastic stories with which they are associated. Here are some tasters to whet your appetite:

- Alice's garden and the original 'sheep shop' from Through the Looking Glass

- Tolkein's college and the staircase where he had rooms as a student

- The exact spot where Gatsby had his photo taken, from The Great Gatsby

- the magnificent Bodleian library, inspiration for Deborah Harkness' Discovery of Witches

- the narrow alleyway where Oscar Wilde got up to no good

- crime scenes from Colin Dexter's Morse and other writers

Come and feed your imagination as we enjoy a leisurely afternoon's stroll exploring the stories and the people who created them in this in this magical city, one of Britain's most enchanting destinations.
