An insiders guide to the secret history of Tiaras – how from humble beginnings as a simple flower crown, tiaras have become the hallmark of royalty, aristocracy and well-dressed brides, everywhere.
But tiaras also hold some of jewellery worlds best kept secrets; a tiara smuggled in a holdall escaping the Russian revolution, another almost lost to the high seas and a mysterious 'haunted' tiara.
We'll also discover the etiquette of tiara wearing: Who can wear a tiara? At what occasions are they obligatory? And why one should never wear ones tiara before 5.00pm.
Join Melanie Blaikie – with her background in fine jewellery, and having designed for many of the big names, from Mappin & Webb and Garrard to Asprey and Tiffany – for an hour of history, intrigue and fabulous jewels.
If you’d like to join in – wearing your own favourite tiara is optional but highly recommended.
