Whether it's the great heritage of the champagne houses, the battle scars of the First World War, the art deco architecture of Reims, the signing of the surrender at the end of the Second World War, or simply the rolling countryside of the Aisne and Marne valleys, this region of France is rich in history. In this talk, tour guide and historian Simon Gregor will use photographs and stories to start to delve into some of the fascinating history and culture of this area.
The talk will serve both as a taster for anyone considering booking the "Denman on tour" to this region in autumn 2021; or as a standalone session for anyone unable to make the tour but who is interested in finding out more about Verdun, Reims and the surrounding areas east of Paris.
